![]() ![]() I've often fantasized about seemingly serious films doing the same kind of batshit insane twist, only to remember that From Dusk Till Dawn already did it. The scenario is a complete "troll" before it was cool. So they ruined a good crime drama, but that's why the twist works. From Dusk Till Dawn's twist made it stand out.Īnd the irony is that the twist wouldn't have worked so well if the first serious half of the movie wasn't a genuinely good crime drama. ![]() Those types of gritty crime movies were quite popular in the 90s. Without this twist, From Dusk Till Dawn would certainly have been just like a Reservoir Dogs, a Natural Born Killers, or a Léon the Professional. I remember seeing this film for the first time when I was a teen in the late 90s, I wasn't spoiled about the twist and I wasn't expecting anything more than a crime drama, and I must agree with you, I really wanted to see what happened to the characters in a more serious crime setting, because it definitely was good writing.īut it's hard to hide the fact that what makes this movie special is how bonkers it turns half way through. If you havent seen From Dusk Till Dawn yet, get some friends together but don't tell them about the twist if they don't know already. Also, I think we can all agree that the Selma Hayak dance scene is by far the sexiest movie scene in cinema history. In this case, we get half of a hostage movie, and half of a vampire gore-fest. The badass convinient-store shootout, the intense editing, incredible dialogue, and the last shot of the Geko brothers driving down the highway while "Dark Night" by The Blasters kicks in.it's just everything I want out of a movie. Powered by JustWatch 'From Dusk Till Dawn' resembles one of those mythological creatures stitched together out of two different species, like a bull with a man's torso. From Dusk till Dawn (1996) Genre: Horror / Crime Duration: 104 minuten Country: United States Directed by: Robert Rodriguez Stars: George Clooney, Quentin. This movie also has my absolutely favorite intro to any movie ever. I honestly get mad every time I reach that halfway point because I'm so invested in the film but I know all these arcs and storylines go literally knowere. I cared about these characters so much and I wanted to see what happened to them after they got to Mexico. But its just that the first half is SOOOOO good and the second half is just so different. Evil Dead 2 is one of my alltime favorite movies. Now dont get me wrong, I LOVE over-the-top B-movie gorefests. And this is when the movie just takes a nose-dive faster than a Kamakazi pilot. But, then we get halfway through and it turns into a vampire movie. Well, the film was written by Quinten Tarantino. The characters are all incredible, Robert Rodriguez's direction and editing is unbelievably good, and it has some of the best dialogue I've ever heard in a film ever. ![]() I used to hate the movie because the first half is easily one of the best crime films ever made. I'm sure most of you guys know "the twist" that takes place half-way through the movie where it completely switches genres. From Dusk Till Dawn is a movie that I used to hate but now love. ![]()
